Searching for a thrilling read that you can't put down? Take a look at Deadly Election by Arthur Crandon I ordered it from Amazon after a recommendation from a good friend and actually couldn't stop reading up until I was done. It simply kept me wanting to know exactly what happens next. I gotta caution you however, the first couple chapters are not for kids. This book gets into serious and extremely realistic detail right from the beginning. Lots of authors have actually discussed the Philippines and other third world Asian countries, but I have never read anything like this. The details feel amazingly genuine. Almost as if the Author had really seen these events himself. This striking novel does not pull any punches. Crandon tells it like it easily might be. The reader is left in no doubt that life in the Philippines, for a lot of the people is precarious at best, and occasionally downright unsafe. Disturbing the wrong people can quickly get you imprisoned, if you are lucky, and eliminated if you are not. Numerous foreigners who have started companies there have not lived to tell the tale. They have either become the victim of a regional powerful businessman or politician who wants their company, or most likely fallen victim to the "relatives" of their partner's milking them of their money. Reading "Deadly Election" reminded me of many of my own experiences in the nation. Though I will say that the Philippines is a stunning country and for the most part a terrific location to go to, however this book doesn't take place in the areas a traveler would visit. I cannot wait to read Arthur Crandon's next book. You must certainly pick up a copy or download an e-book. Both are readily available on Amazon.com. For those of you who do not use Amazon, it is basic to use and has become my go to for anything I wish to purchase now days. I was a late adopter of it, but it is a remarkable and trustworthy website with a great money back guarantee.\\ Here is a short overview from the author himself of what you can expect when you initially look into the depths that "Deadly" takes you to. I know it will certainly leave you with an enduring impression.
